Crazy Strike Bowling is a casual fantasy bowling game. It is the first bowling game on PS3 that supports the PlayStation Move controller. The players can play in some creative modes such as: 

  • The fantasy mode where the obstacles are added into a bowling lane and the players can spend energy on using special moves.

  • The challenge mode that the players need to use the right strategy to solve the puzzle. For example, pins are arranged in the curve line on the lane. The players must use the right character’s move plus throwing angle and power to take down all these pins.

When the players succeed in any mode they receive the reward such as the new costumes or bowling balls.

 

The game was well successful and ported to PS4 and Nintendo Switch as the new title, Crazy Strike Bowling EX.

Responsibilities

In this game, I was the main game designer working on most of the gameplay design.

My duties included:

Gameplay

  • Adjusted and tuned bowling ball and pin physic.

  • Controls, UI, and game flowchart.

  • Items and costumes.

  • Obstacles in the fantasy mode.

  • The bowling balls (Each ball has a unique size and parameters).

  • Playable character’s parameters, and special moves.

  • Puzzles in the challenge mode.

Documentation

  • Game design document.

  • Asset list: art asset, animation, sound asset, and text lists.

  • Document for communication with the publisher.

QA

  • Tested and tuned the bowling ball and pin physics.

  • Tested, fine-tuned and balanced the bowling balls, character’s parameters and special moves.

  • Tested, fine-tuned and balanced the levels and puzzles.

Overall

  • Took responsible for almost all game design and level design as only one main designer in the project.

  • Adjusted and tuned the physic in the game. Made the in-game bowling realistic.
